First Exposures: Looking Forward, Giving Back

This is a time lapse video from our photo booth at the First Exposures: Looking Forward, Giving Back event that took place last Thursday April 28th. This was First Exposure’s second annual Looking Forward, Giving Back benefit event and the evening was filled with lots of music, mingling, and – of course – photography.

Orange has been been a strong supporter of First Exposures, a program affiliated with SF Camerawork that provides weekly photography classes for underserved youth, for the past four years.  According to Erik Auerbach, Director of Education at SF Camerawork, “this year’s benefit was really amazing! We had so much great art on the walls created by our super talented students and our incredibly generous, and talented, mentors. The whole evening went really well and we raised close to $35,000 before expenses. The music was great, our hosts were great and most of all, we had some really cool program participants speaking. Most exciting was Taneshia Miller and her mentor Judy Krasnick that were part of First Exposures in 1993, the year the program started!”

The event was a success and exemplified how the program has grown and has reached so many, yet still remains dedicated to its original goals.
