Behind the Scenes: Help Portrait 2011

Behind the Scenes: Help Portrait 2011

Great work & thank you to everyone who came out to Bayview Opera House for Help Portrait 2011 on December 10th! We joined SF Camerawork’s First Exposures students, along with Pro Camera, Gassers, RayKo and over 100 volunteers to help support the annual worldwide event, which aims to “give, not take portraits,” offering our local communities an opportunity to look their best for [...]

Marcelle & Nisan Engaged!

Marcelle & Nisan Engaged!

A fun afternoon with a very adorable couple. Instead of the popular locations with iconic and picturesque San Francisco landmarks, these two wanted something a little different, and I was happy to oblige. I won’t lie, there was some clearing of questionable street debris to get the shots but it was worth it. Now anybody [...]

Antonia & Chris – San Francisco Engagement Shoot

Antonia & Chris - San Francisco Engagement Shoot

For their engagement shoot, these two liked the idea of the images having an old San Francisco vibe, so we headed to some classic locations around North Beach (where Antonia grew up!). They are so sweet on each other, therefore making my job of capturing authentic moments pretty simple. I’m definitely looking forward to their [...]

Ashley and Jnani engagement pix!

Ashley and Jnani engagement pix!

These two are so cute together and we had a fun time in North Beach for their engagement shoot.  I’m really looking forward to their wedding as they have so much warmth between the two of them.  I used to be a bit ambivalent about engagement shoots but have found they are a great way [...]

Dear readers, I am delighted to introduce to you the one, the only – Amelia Mulkey. Amelia is an actress, splitting up her time between San Francisco and her hometown Los Angeles. She wanted to update her headshots and make room for a new arsenal of looks for her portfolio. We planned a shoot at [...]

Julia & Kevin’s Wedding at Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club

Julia & Kevin's Wedding at Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club

Julia and Kevin were married at the charming Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club, a lovely Bernard Maybeck structure surrounded by redwood trees. It’s like a secret garden/oasis in downtown Mill Valley! These two share a love of their families, football, and good food. Their wedding day coincided with both of Julia’s nieces birthdays (who are [...]

On-location business portrait lighting

On-location business portrait lighting

So one of the things we’ve heard that folks are interested in is more behind-the-scenes and diagrams etc of how we shoot and create the images we do for our clients.  This shot shows one of the rooms that we had to use for some business portraits.  A lot of the time space constraints are [...]

Engagement sessions are a great way to get to know the couple before their wedding. We three got more acquainted checking out the Dogpatch neighborhood near the studio. Jenn and Fred are equal parts silly and sweet! My kind of people.

Hyphen Magazine T-Shirt Shoot

Hyphen Magazine T-Shirt Shoot

Look at that munchkin! Back in May, Natalie helped me out with a t-shirt shoot for Hyphen Magazine. The models were a great mix of staff and Hyphen readers (and future readers, give him 5 years). They’ll be updating the webstore soon with images and updated merchandise at hyphenmagazine.com.

Hyphen Magazine – Portraits

Hyphen Magazine - Portraits

Last month Hyphen Magazine was in need of some headshots of the Board of Directors and leadership team, including head people on the Editorial Team. They use these for press releases, grant applying, basically anywhere they’ll want to put a friendly face to a name. Each session lasted about fifteen minutes and I got a [...]

POKETO! Put it in your pocket.

POKETO! Put it in your pocket.

I recently did some press portraits for Los Angeles based (but San Francisco founded!) super collaborators – Poketo.  Founders Ted Vadakan and Angie Myung have been collaborating with artists and designers from all over the world, creating limited edition wallets – art that fits in your pocket!

Zahra in SF Weekly

Zahra in SF Weekly

Friend and funny lady Zahra Noorbakhsh is featured in SF Weekly this week for her upcoming Valentine’s Day comedy show “On the Periphery of Love.” We did a portrait session in the studio last year and had way too much fun messing around with props and making funny faces. Her expressiveness and creativity really came [...]
