i had the wonderful pleasure of photographing the musical geniuses that is harold budd and robin guthrie (of the cocteau twins fame). they're recording a new album at a studio near our studio and i had the chance to pop in here and there to see how these two collaborated. i am sure it will be a fine masterpiece considering that retirement is just a state of mind for mr budd.

San Francisco Rising

Norma Norwood - SF Earthquake baby
We covered the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire centennial commemoration for the San Francisco Chronicle yesterday and it was quite a day long festivity. It all kicked off at Lotta's Fountain on Market St. and the highlight for me was Norma Norwood (pictured above) who was actually conceived in Golden Gate Park because, according to her, her parents were cold and homeless as a result of the 'quake and had to cuddle. You know what cuddling leads so and so there she was conceived. She was later raised by prostitutes she told our mayor to everyone's delight.

Big News!

John Travolta and Mayor Gavin Newsom with Charlotte Shultz
Today Orange is proud to announce with Mayor Gavin Newsom and new spokesperson John Travolta on hand, that Orange Photography has been named the official photographers for the city of San Francisco and for Scientology worldwide. This historic venture positions Orange on the cutting edge of photography in one of the most progressive cities, and with what is perhaps one of the more controversial religions in modern history.

With unprecedented access, Orange will embark on an ambitious program of documenting the entire experience of both the city of San Francisco and the religion of Scientology.

Tom Cruise, another prominent Scientologist will also be featured in a new film about Orange, and will play the part of founder Andy Berry. Casting for the other parts have not yet been finalized, although it is rumored that Quentin Tarantino or David Lynch are in the lead to direct the film and Uma Thurman has expressed interest in the role of Traci Griffin. Johnny Depp has expressed deep interest in playin the elusive but charming Ryan Hicks, the Creative Director of Orange that lives a double life. Jet Li and Jackie Chan will have a championship fight to play the venerable role of Jack Huynh. Both actors feel that their broken english is a natural fit for the jackanese has been the cornerstone of Jack's success.
