Party Ideas
Working in the hospitality and events industry we come across a lot of interesting stuff. Ice bars seem to be the trend in corporate parties, green screen and on-site printing are also popular, and for holiday parties and weddings, I've seen the customized MMs here and there. If you are planning something and haven't got ideas for snacks to have around they are a pretty cheap and fun way to go.

halloween
I can't remember the last time I've been around kids on Halloween but it's definitely a fun spectacle. identity roles with Halloween are interesting to photograph whether it's little people or big adults. the costumes we choose to put on are no less us when we think we're hiding behind a veneer of secrecy.

Diabetes and Wellness Foundation benefit
Tonight I shot a nice party to benefit the Diabetes and Wellness Foundation. It was at a home in Alamo Square and was very tastefully produced. The event planning was done by Alison Events who do great work and most well known for their destination wedding planning services.

Dirtybird at Shine
Last night I had a rare night off so I had dinner with my friend Julie for a belated birthday party and then we went to Shine where it was Dirtybird. A good night although I still couldn't leave the studio without a camera...

There's something about Claiborne
Having shot quite a few society events (especially over the past ten days), I've seen a lot of the same folks at these soirees. I overheard Claiborne say that she got off on the wrong floor and walked into someones party and realized then that she wasn't at the right place. I wish she'd randomly show up at one of our parties here at the studio... maybe we can ask our neighbor Stanlee Gatti to come and bring her along?

Walking away
Seeing a lot of the work of the wondeful photographers we have as part of Orange, I realize there's something about the 'walking away' shot of the just married couple that has this special energy to it. I've seen lots of great ones that Jack has taken, and when I was editing my most recent wedding, I liked this particular shot...

Our beautiful city
Tonight I shot a private event at the Hotel Vitale and the view there is really nice especially at dusk. I took this shot of the Ferry Building and was pleased with how it turned out. Over the weekend and tonight I've been reminded of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful city as San Francisco.

Future Assistants
These two kids were asking me all sorts of questions about my job during a wedding this weekend. I love how kids keep asking why and it's nice because it makes you actually think about the answer to that question.

Red is the new... orange?

Stanlee Gatti's brain...
So I shot the Artists Ball at Yerba Buena and it was a party aptly titled Stanlee's Brain in honor of event presario Stanlee Gatti. There were tons of folks on hand including Lars Ulrich of Metallica, actress Connie Nielsen, Willie Brown (da Mayor), current mayor Gavin Newsom, Billy and Vanessa Getty and plenty more.
Since I shot it for the Chronicle's new SFIS section, I can't post anything except this shot that Jessica Mullens took of me and Laurieanne Lassek who I met last night and who runs her own PR agency.

7x7 Magazine Hot 20 Party
Scissors for Lefty (above) played last night at the Hot 20 Party hosted by 7x7 Magazine. It was a great but short set they played and the band themselves were very cool and down to earth. Also on hand was Q'Orianka Kilcher (in the middle, below) who played Pocahontas in The New World

Colin Powell
General Colin Powell spoke at the salesforce.com Dreamforce '06 conference as the key note this week and we covered it. He also talked to some kids from the area and they stumped him here with some questions. General Powell was promoting socially responsible citizenship and America's Promise which he does a lot of work for.

Little Lola...

San Francisco Magazine Fallfest - Wells Fargo First Class Lounge
Today we shot at the Wells Fargo First Class Lounge at San Francisco Magazine's FallFest down at Justin Herman Plaza. As usual, once the wine got flowing the green screen photo booth caught on and by the end of the day, people were lined up for their pix. We were superimposing people onto the cover of San Francisco Magazine and people were having a lot of fun with it. The event as a whole was a benefit for Meals on Wheels of San Francisco and looked like quite a success!

Erin and Thad
Erin and Thad were married here in San Francisco today at City Hall. They were such an awesome couple and it was nice to have spent time with my fellow Southerners. They were in town from Kentucky and I not only served as their photographer but also as their witness. After the lunchtime vows, they headed off on Muni to Greens for their first meal as a married couple...

CMO Summit
Today we shot the CMO Summit at the Four Seasons Hotel and there were a lot of great presentations and panelists discussing various trends in marketing and what works and doesn't work. At the end of the event, Yahoo! sponsored the Big Idea Chair Awards and they gave away these tiny versions of the chair which in this shot make your mobile device look gargantuan...

Baby Savannah...
Well i have wanted to meet her for nine months and she has finally arrived. Baby Savannah Rivers Sullivan. She came into our lives....and she just LOVES the camera. Thank goodness since her favorite aunt (well that's negotiable) is constantly photographing her!
