OP Hosts Fotovision's Workshop with Alex Webb
News ( April 2007)
In support of the local photography community, we hosted 18 photographers in our studio this weekend for a two-day workshop produced by Fotovision (.org). It featured individual portfolio reviews by Alex and Rebecca Webb. Saturday was spent reviewing all participant's portfolios with extensive feedback given by the experts. On Sunday, more information on editing was shared providing invaluable advice to the participants. Alex Webb, a member of Magnum Photos since 1976, has published seven books (I just bought his seventh book, Istanbul: City of a Hundred Names). He has worked for many major publications including National Geographic, Life, New York Times Magazine, GEO, and is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, a Hasselblad Foundation Grant, and the Leica Medal of Excellence. Alex was featured with Rebecca Norris Webb. She edits Alex's work but began her life as a poet, then when into journalism. She had her first NYC solo exhibition at Ricco Maresca Gallery in 2006 the same year her first book, The Glass Between Us, was published.
