In-n-Out Burger #4 – genex style (correctly made)

Feb 7, 2010: In-n-Out Burger #4 – genex style (correctly made)

Before shooting a cover image for Dangerous Curves I had to return a rental car and to me rental car = In-n-Out so I made a second trip to In-n-Out in the same rental this morning.  Glad I did since the shoot was pretty tiring with lots of lighting changes and getting up on the roof too.  I handled a ton of weapons.  One of the prop stylists was CHP so there were real sniper rifles with laser scopes, shotguns, .45s, berettas and a bunch of other guns I had no idea what they were called.  Pretty fun to play with as props even though there were the real deal.  Stay tuned for pix from the In-n-Out fueled shoot!

In-n-Out Burger #3 – genex style (correctly made)

It was a long break but my third In-n-Out meal was at the Millbrae outlet and I ate this one in the car on US 101 South. I also noticed that the way the cashiers ring in my “genex style” Double Doubles varies quite a bit so I’ll be including receipt shots moving forward.  Luckily all of them this year have been prepared correctly.  In the past I seemed to have a 40% hit ratio

During the drive, I was riding with my friend Mary and we were talking about the drama from a few years back when In-n-Out heiress Lynsi Martinez was feuding was her grandmother (and founder of In-n-Out) Esther Synder.  We googled her and found some more info on her on her Wikipedia page and realized she’s now the company’s sixth president.

Finally got to play my first official match of the 1st Annual Inner Mission Pinball Invitational today and it was a good time!

In-n-Out Burger #1 – genex style (correctly made)

I’ve decided to Chronicle visually every In-n-Out Burger I eat in 2010 so since I started my year (and decade) off with a double double, I’ve posted the shot here and you’ll be able to see all of this years In-n-Out Burgers at this URL: http://pulp.orangephotography.com/genex/?cat=174

Boys will be boys…

boys will be boys

I thought this was a funny scene since I was photographing workers and trying to get action shots of them when this situation happened.  Basically I was camped up on a balcony and getting shots of the folks bringing in tables when I noticed the one  of the guys in the trucks head slowly panning.  I looked and noticed there was a woman walking by and at that point snapped this shot.  The guy in the truck was by now leaning out of the back of the truck and you can see the woman walking away (she did look pretty cute!).  [click on the image to see the full-sized version for a better close up]

Telling a story… What is she waiting for?

Lori Steele

Usually at the bodybuilding shows I cover, I have to shoot a certain way which is my standard style but adapted to physique photography.  However, I’ve been wanting to do a little more when I have time to shoot something a bit more conceptual and since I’ve worked a lot with Lori we decided to try something a bit different.  I still was shooting with deadlines and time limitations but I wanted to have this sort of mysteriously muscular woman theme for this part of the shoot.  Not sure if it works, but I kinda like it…

Rarely seen image of me in a suit…

gene x photographing at the Pacific Union Club
of course I was shooting at the Pacific Union Club…

I’ve been trying out this 7D and shooting with it a lot and really dig it – will have a full run over my next trip to South Florida and NYC to see what it can do and will report back :)

Another busy weekend…

Good times once again and on Friday we celebrated Andrei’s birthday at Orange Photography.  I attempted to make a time-lapse video from the stills and the result is above.  I need to add music and a watermark to it next time but it came out pretty nicely…  Full gallery here!

It’s always fun to tell a story by showing off moments when other things are happening that may not exactly define what is going on.   Here are just two shots from a great wedding I shot a week ago here in San Francisco.  Feet and body positioning can really say something…
